What’s the best type of exercise for a diabetic?

My answer, to anyone, diabetic or not is the best type of exercise is the type that you’re going to stick to long term.

Hate running? You don’t have to do it. You can go out for a walk. Hop on a bicycle. Paddle down the river in a kayak.

Hate lifting weights? Don’t do it. Take a spin class, aerobic class, or zumba your heart out. End of the day, it doesn’t matter WHAT you do as long as you get off the couch or out of your computer chair and do something.

For us diabetics, going for a 15 minute stroll around your neighborhood is enough to start lowering your blood sugar. 30 minutes will lower it quite a bit more. Weight lifting a few times a week will help improve your insulin sensitivity on the long term.

It’s pretty amazing what a little big of exercise can do for us.
